How Rome was Founded
In the legend of Romulus and Remus, the twin sons of Mars, the God of war, are orphaned when their mother, Silvia, is imprisoned and the infants are cast into the Tiber River.
The twins are set ashore under a fig tree and found by a female wolf. The wolf nurses them and cares for them until a shepherd named Faustulus finds them and takes care of them with his wife.
When the twins grew older they decided to found a City in the place where they had been found by the wolf.
Romulus and Remus can't agree upon the location of the new city or a name for it. During this argument they fight and Romulus kills his twin brother. He built the new city, naming it Rome, in honour of himself in 753BC.
